Emily K. Adams is a Principal Security Analyst at the Indiana University Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research (CACR). With over 24 years of experience in IT administration, security operations, and cybersecurity R&D, she thrives in tackling complex cybersecurity challenges where conventional solutions fall short, consulting on regulatory-driven solutions for academic research and industry, and exploring cybersecurity challenges in critical infrastructure and cyber-physical ecosystems. She co-led the research and development to identify the Transformative Twelve (T12), an evidence-based, highly prioritized subset of the CIS Controls’ Safeguards.
Prior to her role at CACR, Emily served as a Lead Security Engineer at Indiana University’s University Information Security Office, specializing in network intrusion detection, incident response, and security consulting. She also contributed to national security as an Information Assurance Analyst contractor for the Department of Defense, supporting risk response strategies for special projects. E
Emily holds an M.S. in Secure Computing and a B.A. in Sociology from Indiana University, as well as multiple GIAC certifications (GCIH, GICSP, GCIP).
