Anurag Shankar is a Chief Security Analyst at Indiana University's Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research (CACR). His expertise includes regulatory compliance and cybersecurity risk management. He has spent nearly three decades developing, delivering, and managing IU's central research cyberinfrastructure, including services such as Unix support, distributed storage, computational grids, and HIPAA aligned solutions for clinical research. He is responsible for developing and applying the NIST Risk Management Framework to align IU's central research cyberinfrastructure with HIPAA and for helping numerous other institutions tackle compliance. He is a computational astrophysicist by training with a Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
