Damir Cavar is an Associate Professor at Indiana University Bloomington in the Department of Linguistics. At IU, he is also affiliated with the Cognitive Science Program and the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences. Further, he has ties with the Data Science Program in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. He is also involved with the Russian and East European Institute in the School of Global and International Studies. Dr. Cavar is engaged in collaborative research efforts on network scientific approaches with the Indiana University Network Science Institute. Additionally, he works on big data technologies for NLP and HPC with the Intelligent Systems Engineering (ISE) department at IU. He also works with questions related to NLP and cybersecurity. In the past, Dr. Cavar has worked in most areas of NLP at various institutions in Europe and in the USA. His research focus is on algorithms and models for (Open) Information Extraction and NLP, learning of Knowledge Graphs, and Ontologies for semantic NLP applied to domains like cybersecurity.
