IU unveils updated Regional Optical Network map

The Advanced Network Management Lab at Indiana University has unveiled a new version of its Regional Optical Network map. The map shows fiber-optic networks owned and/or run by state and regional educational and research organizations within the US. This information can be important to a variety of users, including network developers and governmental and private project planners.

Users of the map illustrates the extent of fiber-optic networks across the country with the aim of encouraging interconnectivity and collaborative efforts,aiding in planning, resource allocation and policy determination efforts on the local, state, regional and national levels.

The current version of the map can be downloaded as a PDF file here.

The Regional Optical Network map is released with a creative commons license.
